George Arnett
Data journalist, researcher, writer & project manager.
About me
I research, I write, I teach, I chart and I project manage events. You can hire me for any of those tasks or if you have another idea then do reach out.
My first big role was as a reporter on the Guardian’s data team, where I worked on multiformat stories and projects. I delivered various front-page stories and high-traffic news features.
I was also the first data editor at Vogue Business, writing data-led news features and making graphics about the luxury fashion space. I covered big companies including Burberry and LVMH, found out about biodegradable bras and answered some pressing industry questions like how much consumers would actually pay for sustainable t-shirts.
I have freelanced for a bunch of other places (some selections in my portfolio), including an award-winning run at Die Welt in Germany, and produced data journalism workshops for organisations like Iran Open Data and Dispatches.
I am co-lead organiser and founder of Oldfields Festival, a community-minded arts and culture party with camping that takes place in the Peak District. I also run our late-night event Coldfields at various London venues.
